Senior Software Engineer
Background
Yuzu Health is a startup health insurance TPA. We manage and help to design the health insurance plans that businesses offer their employees. Read more about what a TPA does here. We differentiate by helping new types of health insurance plans come to life by facilitating new ways to pay for and access healthcare covered by insurance.
At a basic level, health insurance is simple: give people certainty over how much they will pay for needed medical expenses. Health insurance has become too complicated, and needs people who care deeply about digging through the complexity of the system to reveal the simple and noble nature lying beneath.
We view ourselves as a fintech company — creating and managing incentive structures and social contracts that pay strangers to take care of each other.
Role
This is an abstraction design role. You will be a software engineer and code full time.
You will primarily be responsible for managing migrations, refactoring code, enforcing conventions, deleting redundancy, and abstracting functionality.
You will ingest complex, feature-rich code and turn it into clean modules that destroy entropy and keep the rest of the team agile on the frontlines.
You understand that robustness is a side-effect of simplicity.
Your job will change completely every 3-6 months as you design abstractions to solve recurring problems
In person NYC 5 days a week non-negotiable.
Basic stack: NestJS, SvelteKit, Typescript, Prisma, AWS.
Meta stack: Stedi, Stripe
