Dependent Age Out Notifications

Notifications will be sent out to both admins and the subscriber when a dependent is aged out.

The Notification Timeline

About one month before the dependent's 26th birthday, the system sends out warnings:

  • Administrators receive a "member age-out warning" notification (in-app, email, and/or push depending on their settings). The message flags that the dependent will turn 26 soon and prompts the admin to reach out and discuss options

  • The subscriber (the employee/parent holding the coverage) receives a "Dependent aged out" email explaining:

    • The dependent is turning 26 and will lose coverage on a specific date

    • Their coverage options (federal marketplace via Healthcare.gov, or coverage through the dependent's own employer)

    • The disabled-dependent exception

Important: The dependent does not receive a direct notification. Communications go to the subscriber and to administrators, who are expected to relay the information to the dependent.
