Providing members cards

Notifying members

Most coordinators prefer to securely message card information to members via text, phone, email, or messaging apps like Spruce.

Typical key member guidance:

  • Do not present your insurance ID—you are a cash pay patient by choice.

  • Your name is on the card. If asked for a zip code, provide your employer’s.

  • Request a receipt from the provider (itemized required for charges over $500).

One additional note, the cards’ limit is $10k per swipe. Larger transactions will often require two or more swipes (but still just one card) to pay for the service. It is important to tell the member this prior to their service.

Below is an example email of a care coordinator notifying a member:

Subject: Preloaded card for your MAMMOGRAM Appointment

Attached to this email is a pre-loaded card for your appointment at Imaging Center. Please review below prior to your appointment:

  1. Do NOT present your insurance ID. You simply need to say that you are a CASH-PAY PATIENT BY CHOICE so the facility does not get confused with the payment method and initiate a claim instead of accepting the cash payment using the loaded card.

  2. If they ask for the name on the card, just say your name “Member Name."

  3. If they ask for the zip code, just answer your employer’s zip

  4. After your appointment, please request a copy of your itemized receipt and send it to your Care Navigator or directly to the Yuzu Portal (a link will be provided once the card is swiped).

Thank you!

Best,

Responding to a voided transactions

  • Most likely reason: incorrect info entered by provider. Have them try again.

  • Another cause: card spend limit is too low. A new card with a higher limit must be requested.

  • Another cause: insufficient funds in the claim account. This requires fund addition via the portal.

Members also have direct access to their card in the portal. If sent a link, they can log in using a one-time link.
